Fire safety assistant training to DGUV Information 205-023
We train your staff in theory and practice, including a live extinguishing exercise. At your premises, along your escape routes and with your own fire extinguishers.

Every company needs fire safety assistants
This is a legal duty, not a recommendation. Under § 10 of the German Occupational Safety and Health Act (ArbSchG), every employer must appoint staff who take on tasks in the event of fire. How many and what they need to know is set out in the technical rule ASR A2.2 and in DGUV Information 205-023.
Appointing people is not enough. Fire safety assistants must be trained in theory and in practice, with a real extinguishing exercise. Anyone holding a fire extinguisher for the first time in a real emergency loses the seconds that matter.

How many fire safety assistants does your company need?
For normal fire risk, ASR A2.2 gives a guideline of 5 percent of the workforce. In practice you need more: holidays, sick leave, shift work and multiple sites all have to be covered. What counts is that enough trained people are present at all operating times.
Where the fire risk is higher, for example when flammable materials are stored, in workshops or during hot work, the requirement rises. That share is set by the risk assessment, not by the percentage.
Worked example to ASR A2.2
40 employees with normal fire risk
× 5 % ASR A2.2 guideline
2 trained fire safety assistants on paper. Plus cover for holidays, sick leave and shifts.
What the training covers
The content follows DGUV Information 205-023. We train your staff in theory and practice:
- Basics of preventive fire protection and how fires start
- Your in-house fire safety organisation, escape and rescue routes
- How extinguishers work and how to choose the right one
- Dangers of fire smoke and how to act in the event of fire
- Hands-on extinguishing exercise
We come to you and train on site. It sticks, because it is exactly the environment where it will matter in an emergency.
Don’t forget refresher training
One-off training is not enough for good. A refresher is recommended every three to five years, and whenever something important changes: new rooms, new equipment, new hazardous substances or staff changes.
On request we remind you in good time. We also draw up your fire safety regulations to DIN 14096 and your escape and rescue plans, so training and documents fit together.
